So I've always been told that, even if the USSR began as a workers' state, it became a dictatorship of high level bureaucrats claiming to represent the people (a la in Animal Farm). I’d like to educate myself myself more and figured I’d start with the nation that is demonized most by the west, North Korea. Capitalist production (under both the national and foreign bourgeoisie) accounts for at least 40% of their economy. Why don't they simply nationalize or cooperatize their economy if they're truly socialists? If China wants to raise the living standards of it's people, it should eliminate the class of leeches, and give more to the the people who actually labor."
