"Matthew 6:9 (RSV) Our Father in heaven, hallowed be thy name. “The Lord’s Prayer” is one of the most familiar and memorized scripture passages in the bible. Most of us can recite it without thinking. Look at the first word: “Our.” Jesus doesn’t say my father, or your father. He says “Our Father.” I can picture him smiling with arms open wide as he said those words. Think about it: Jesus is saying he is our brother, we are all family, brothers and sisters together with the same Father! All the things that separate us—race, language, status, denomination, place of birth, etc—don’t matter to God. We are family! Thank you, Father, for making us one big family. Help us pray for one another and love one another. Help us enjoy our differences and do our family chores until the whole world can say “Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.” Amen."
