"MY PLEDGE AS A DOG PARENT I will love my dog as I would love any child. I pledge to have my dog spayed or neutered to prevent the overpopulation of neglected dogs. I pledge to never let my dog be hungry or thirsty. I will not leave my dog outside without the protection from heat, cold, rain, snow or any element that would harm him or make him unhappy. I will not put him on a chain or short rope that would inhibit his movement. I will have a fence to protect him from harm from people, cars or preditory animals. I wil be sure he is protected from disease and will seek medical attention when necessary. I will see that my dog gets regular exercise by walking him and letting him enjoy the world around him. I will not let him go outside without being in the safety of a yard or leash. I will pick up his litter when walking to protect the health and sanitation of other dogs and their dog parents. I will not abuse my dog by hitting, kicking or hurting him in any way and I will not allow others to do it. I will not use my dog for display, entertainment or the enjoyment for the satisfaction of people that would harm or make my dog unhappy. I will not leave my dog unprotected in a motor vehicle from inclimate weather that would be detrimental to his health. I will not dispose of my dog because of housing regulations. My dog was designated to be in my care, to love and cherish until death do one of us part."
