Jessica Being the youngest child, my son has learned the skill of convincing me to drive him to school in the morning rather than riding the bus. Even though it is not always convenient, It has become something I look forward to each day for many reasons, but especially one in particular.
Every time my son steps out of the car to head into school, he takes a few steps and then looks back and waves. He will then take a few more steps, turn around and wave again. This process repeats itself until he reaches the glass doors of the school and walks in. I have learned an important lesson in this process.
How often are we asked to walk through the doors of the unknown? Almost daily we are met with experiences that take us out of our comfort zone. It can be quite frightening to take those first steps forward and keep walking. It’s not uncommon to look back, looking to be reassured that it’s all going to work out, but even if you don’t receive that confirmation right away, keep walking forward, it’s in that moving forward that opens endless possibilities for growth and success. I am reminded of the quote, “ Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip toe if you must, but take the step.”
My hope is we won't let fear limit us from having the courage to walk through the door of unexplored opportunities.
"Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction ends up being the biggest step of your life. Tip toe if you must, but take the step."
