Isn’t it ironic that we can become enamored by the beauty and grace of a butterfly and just as easily repulsed by a caterpillar? When we gaze at a caterpillar, it seems impossible that that creature could become something of beauty and wonder, and yet over time, the unimaginable occurs. In life, we become impatient with ourselves and others when all we see is the caterpillar. Change takes time. It is through a series of experiences that individuals are slowly metamorphosed into a new being. If we interfere with the process, we hinder the end result of becoming a butterfly. Rather than focusing on the caterpillar, we should be patient and focus on the beauty of what’s to come! I believe Antoine de Saint- Exupery said it best when he said, “Well, I must endure the presence of a few caterpillars if I wish to become acquainted with the butterflies.”
